Brovst Bed and Breakfast

We met in Greenland almost many years ago, says Bodil. Bodil was in Greenland because of his job as a physiotherapist. Ole was a trained banker in Greenland to open a new branch of the Bank of Greenland in Holsteinsborg. Holsteinsborg is located facing the Davis Strait approximately 320 km north of Nuuk on the west coast of Greenland.

The house where Bodil and Ole live today is situated high up - everywhere from house and garden with the most fantastic view over the scenic area between the North Sea and Nibe Bredning. They moved there in 2003 after many years in Nørre Sundby.

Ole had decided to give up his job as a bank adviser and become self-employed. He was reaching an age - where the dream, if it was to be realized - had to be realized now. Ole bought a bookshop in Brovst, and the family therefore moved there with their 2 adopted boys.

Before long, the family was deeply involved in the local community. Bodil went to French, swimming, literature and immersed himself in his many leisure interests. Ole was busy with his new business.

After almost 20 years as an independent bookseller, Ole developed severe arthritis and had to stop. The children had moved away from home when Ole decided to retire. Bodil continued to work - for a short time - before she too decided to retire.

They enjoyed life and all the opportunities life offered with excursions and walks to both the North Sea - especially Slette Strand, which they love - the Limfjord and nature in general.

In 2019, it felt like a lot of time as pensioners and the remaining space in the house - more and more present. The couple therefore decided to invite guests to stay in the 2 extra rooms that were available and left over. They simply started a Bed and Breakfast.

When the covid pandemic broke out the same year, Bodil and Ole thought - Oh no - what a bad timing to start a new project. Fortunately, it turned out not to be true at all.

Guests from all over the country, who needed to get out and away from restrictions, home workplaces and shutdowns - as well as the narrow confines of their homes, went to North Jutland in long trains. Ole and Bodil got really busy - and a fantastic start to their new careers as Bed and Breakfast hosts.

The house and grounds are a disused farm and therefore offer very good space. As a guest in the house, you are welcome to explore the large hilly grounds, use the orangery and use all the beautiful facilities in the terrific garden.

The garden was and is their shared passion. You discover this as soon as you arrive at the place. It's a fantastic garden. They have worked hard to create this paradise. More than 50 trees have been felled, and it is many hours of work that you get the honor of enjoying and seeing when you live on site.

We received a warm welcome when we arrived at Brovst Bed and Breakfast. The room we stayed in was welcoming and well-furnished with TV and free wifi, comfortable beds and a large living room with a sitting area. We had an electric kettle and coffee and tea for free use. The attached bathroom was bright and well appointed.

We slept fantastically in the lovely beds and got up to an unusually delicious breakfast. The table was set in a large living room with panoramic windows facing the garden, and the beautiful, beautiful view of the valley - like a patchwork carpet of wonderfulness in the background.

We were served a delicious organic breakfast with home-baked buns and home-made rye bread. In addition to eggs from our own chicken farm served as an omelette with bacon, tomato and chives - a really delicious warm dish, homemade jam, also cream cheese, brie, sausage rolls, yoghurt and really good coffee. A fresh and delicious breakfast!
