Archipelago Trail: 220 Kilometres of Rambling Adventures
The Archipelago Trail is with its 220 km one of Denmark's longest hiking trails. The trails encircle the South Funen Archipelago and has a very diverse course through a unique cultural landscape, with lovely areas, manors, villages and market towns, which is characterized by the fascinating cultural history. There are views over the archipelago, which includes the many islands and an internationally recognized bird area. The trail is reserved for walkers and is signposted all along the route with poles and pictograms of a Hiking-man.
Day trips on The Archipelago Trail
Archipelago Trail can easily be split into smaller stages. The hike can be done in 4 stages where information regarding transportation, parking and overview maps is provided.

The Archipelago Trail from Svendborg to Rudkøbing - 26 km
This section of the trail runs from Svendborg Sund Bridge in the North, across to Tåsinge and Siø, onwards to Rudkøbing in the South. The trail takes you through the idyllic, old and unique fishing town Troense, with spectacular views to Thurø across the narrow Thurø Sund. The trail runs through the coastal forests, past beautiful Valdemar's Castle and along the scenic Lunkebugten. In Rudkøbing you can choose to take The Archipelago Trail further South to Henning Nor or towards Lohals in the North. Enjoy!

The Archipelago Trail from Fjællebroen to Svendborg - 30 km
This part of the trail begins at Fjællebroen, an old disembarkation station, and ends in Svendborg at the road bridge crossing to Tåsinge. This part of the trail takes you along the Sound, into the glacial landscape in Egebjerg Bakker northwest of Svendborg in again back out to the coast. The trail offers spectacular views over the archipelago, forests and vast manor landscapes. The brochure describes some of the sights along the hike.

The Archipelago Trail from Marstal to Søby passing Ærøskøbing- 36 km
The trail leads from Marstal harbor following the coast out into the open country, over the dam at Gråsten Nor and following hills and winding roads to Ærøskøbing. From here the trail leads you along the coastline past Borgnæs and the beautiful area around Ærø Natural Park. It continues across Ærø past the historical plant Søbygaard to Vitsø Nor before the path ends in Søby. The brochure describes Marstal and some of the sights in the area.
