8 April 2011 was a fateful day for Gitte and Jørgen. Jomfrubakken was in flames, and within a few hours their business and life base razed to the grown..
It has been a lot of work to rebuild the place again. It has required willpower and dreams for the fu- ture, to get the Jomfrubakken restored.
Everything is now rebuilt with love and respect for history. A story that starts with a little 8-year-old girl, our hostess, who comes to visit the Jomfru- bakken for the first time and vowed that Jom- frubakken would one day be hers. And the dream came true. With the support and help of her hus- band, of course. For as Gitte tells: When staying focused and targeted, you can achieve almost anything. Jomfrubakken - The Virgin ?s Hill- is an old deanery, formerly affiliated with one of the only two Danish monasteries, which housed the medieval Birgit- tins. The story goes, that young women who came into trouble, was placed on the deanery, where the monks took care of the girls and made sure that the children were adopted as soon as they were born.
We have promised the hosts that we do not reveal all the secrets about the place, as they say, the guests must come and experience it all by them sel- ves. To feel the atmosphere and be captivated by the surprises that the hosts makes. We have a good image, says Gitte, and it is an image that we do not advertise. But it does mean that our guests return again and again. - For that we are deeply grateful. Guests have always played a major role in Gittes and Jørgen's life. After the fire in 2011, they got many expressions and support from their guests which as they say: Can keep us running for an entire life. A sea of flowers, letters and cards poured in the day after the fire. Gitte and Jørgen are both concerned and curious people who have left a deep impression on the visitors who has come to visit, which they now experienced.
Over the years, Jomfrubakken has been visited by celebrities and busy career people who came to the Jomfrubakken to find "themselves" again. Because it was quiet here in beautiful settings, guests were meet with openness, warmth and willingness to assist. Gitte has had a long successful career in the healtcare sector and has subsequently become a coach. So caring, good service and the willingness to make an effort, is important to her. There is a smile in her voice, when she says: "We can not help it. It is so rewarding for us to meet all these interesting people and their different personalities. We learn something new about people and about ourselves every day, and it is a great gift".
The work to rebuild Jomfrubakken has been going on for the last 2 years, and now Gitte and Jørgen is finally ready to invite all their deeply missed guests into Jomfrubakken again. It is with great pleasure that the editors can refer our readers to the Jomfrubakken once again. The place reopens 1 April 2013. Your hosts have expanded the house and offers not 19 but 30 beds - a total of 10 rooms with private bathrooms - and they have build yet another house that can accommodate up to 10 guests. As something completely new the place now has a first floor - not covering the banquet hall - which has room for 70 people - that can be used for parties and teaching. In total 625 m2 fantastic Bed and Breakfast has been rebuild. And as Gitte says: "We offer the same concept as before the fire - rent on a daily basis or whatever is needed with the same flexibility as we previously offered. The very best thing is that we have the cosiness and warmth back in our house - all though the whole thing smells brand new".
